Building on nearly a decade of frontline and strategic experience, SCB Inclusion Consultancy is led by Shakira Bryan and supports vulnerable learners through inclusive, ethical and sustainable practice.

I specialise in inclusion, behaviour, engagement and systems change, with a particular focus on children and young people facing complex personal and social challenges. My experience spans both mainstream and alternative provision, giving me a clear understanding of how inclusion operates across different contexts and pressures.

I have worked directly with children and young people, parents and guardians, schools, trusts and local authorities. This includes designing and delivering inclusive programmes, providing staff training and offering strategic advice to senior leaders and pastoral teams.

At a national level, I have overseen and supported inclusive practice across more than 100 education settings. This breadth of experience allows me to bridge the gap between policy, provision and lived experience, ensuring that strategy leads to meaningful and sustainable change in practice.

SCB Inclusion Consultancy exists to offer ethical, realistic and effective support. The focus is always on solutions that work within the realities schools face, while maintaining high expectations for inclusion, equity and belonging.

About

Why I started SCB Inclusion Consultancy

I started SCB Inclusion Consultancy after seeing a clear gap in the education system. Schools are expected to meet increasingly complex needs, yet there is no single, joined up place to access practical, ethical and sustainable inclusion support.

Through working in and alongside schools and alternative provision settings nationwide, across a wide range of demographics and communities, I have seen how easily vulnerable children can become labelled, marginalised or excluded when systems are stretched and people are under pressure. This is rarely about a lack of care or commitment. More often, it reflects a lack of time, clarity, capacity and coordinated support.

I also know first hand how challenging it is for staff to create meaningful change in isolation. Lasting inclusion cannot sit with one person or one policy. It requires whole school approaches that are realistic, embedded and supported at every level.

SCB Inclusion Consultancy was created to strengthen inclusion without judgement or blame. The work is grounded in ethical practice, professional curiosity and a deep understanding of the realities schools face across different contexts. At its core is a belief that while the current system is not truly inclusive, most people working within it are striving for the same outcome: children feeling safe, understood and able to thrive.

SCB Inclusion Consultancy exists to help schools move from knowing the system is not working for many young people to taking practical, confident steps towards doing things differently.
